The photo is first obtained by finding the baby's profile in a 2 D ultrasound and then rendering a 3D ultrasound. This render results in an image that has length, width and depth making the image look lifelike. So lifelike that you can actually compare the before birth and after birth photos when the you have a 3D ultrasound preformed at or around 30 weeks. The photo below illustrates an amazing 3D ultrasound of a baby and after the baby is born. This ultrasound was performed at A Baby Visit 3D 4D Ultrasound of Riverside. A 2D ultrasound actually means 2 dimensional ultrasound. The 2 dimensions are length and width no depth. When dealing with a fetal ultrasound image in 2D you would see the basic outline of the baby's anatomy usually in black and white. Some examples include a profile outline of the baby's face, leg, hand, fingers, toes and such. Using 2D ultrasound we measure the baby's anatomy, determine gender, obtain fetal heart rate and get those cute little profile photos. A Baby Visit obtained the baby's profile in this photo below using 2D ultrasound techniques. If you have any questions or comments regarding 2D ultrasound imaging please feel free to ask questions or comments below.
